Report: Mourinho encouraging Tottenham to raid Lille again for £25m right-back

BuzzSport have reported that Tottenham head coach, Jose Mourinho, is encouraging the club to bid for Lille right-back, Zeki Celik, this summer.

Spurs have struggled in the right-back position for the past two seasons now, with Serge Aurier being the only current first-team option.

Kieran Trippier struggled there last season, before Aurier stepped into the role during this campaign. However, the Ivorian is known to leave himself open defensively. Kyle Walker-Peters started the first three games of the season but was then loaned out in January.

BuzzSport claim that Lille may be tempted to sell Celik for around £25m in the next transfer window.

Of course, Mourinho and Spurs already raided the French club for assistant Joao Sacramento and coach Nuno Santos when the Special One arrived in November.

Celik even told TRT Sports in February that he was aiming to prove himself in the Premier League at some point in the future. He even added that he was already learning English.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Right-back is one of the key positions that needs to be fixed for Spurs. Aurier is not good enough defensively and Spurs need to invest in someone for the future. 23-year-old Celik could be a prime candidate, along with Max Aarons and Youcef Atal.
