Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly looking to sign Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson as a potential replacement for Tanguy Ndombele this summer.
Jose Mourinho has reportedly had a falling out with Ndombele, with the Spurs head coach said to be not happy with the midfielder’s efforts in training (The Athletic).
L’Equipe report that Spurs have already begun negotiating the midfielder’s sale to Barcelona, with Paris Saint-Germain also said to be keen on snapping up the 23-year-old.
Telefoot journalist Julien Maynard claimed earlier this week that Ndombele had held a meeting with Mourinho in which the midfielder had told his manager that he does not wish to play for him anymore.
Sanson has been a consistent performer in the heart of Marseille’s midfield since arriving from Montpellier in January 2017.
Le10Sport (via Tribal Football) reported at the start of the month that Spurs were Sanson’s most likely destination, with Marseille looking to cash in on the 25-year-old this summer for a fee in the region of €35-€40 million (£34.5m-£36m).
Le Parisien have installed Tottenham as the favourites to land the Marseille star ahead of West Ham and Newcastle.
Spurs Web Opinion
If Ndombele is not going to get much of a look in under Jose (which appears like it will be the case), we might as well sell him this summer and sign a player who the Spurs boss actually wants to work with.
Sanson is a tidy player but I cannot say I have been too impressed with him in the past. My suspicion is that he will come in as a backup and that the Ndombele money will be used to fund other targets if the Frenchman is sold.
