Report: Mourinho has been bad-mouthing Solskjaer following December defeat

The Athletic’s Daniel Taylor has claimed that Jose Mourinho has been far from complimentary of the work Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done at Manchester United.

The Norwegian replaced Mourinho at the helm at Old Trafford last season, initially as an interim appointment, before being handed the job permanently.

Ahead of Tottenham’s clash against Manchester United on Friday, the Athletic article explores the pressure that the Manchester United boss is under to prove that he is good enough for the United hot seat.

It is said that the former Red Devils striker has to finish in the top four this season or guide the club to a trophy in order to prove his critics wrong.

The report also asserts that Mourinho has been telling people that Solskjaer is out of his depth at his old job.

Taylor suggests that the Spurs boss might not have forgiven Solskjaer for giving him a pat on the head in front of all the television cameras when United beat Spurs 2-1 back in December.

It is also said that the Portuguese coach may have been scarred by Tottenham’s defeat on the night and the affection that the Old Trafford faithful showed towards Solskjaer.

Taylor insinuates that Mourinho could thus be out for revenge when the sides meet against on Friday.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no doubt that this game will be personal for Jose and that he will be desperate to win it and make a statement. It will be interesting to see the tactics that the Spurs boss employs against United. I would expect us to play on the counter rather than being on the front foot right from the start.
