Report: Mourinho has made it clear that he wants £50m-rated midfielder

Jose Mourinho has reportedly made it clear to Tottenham’s hierarchy that he wants Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic signed this summer, according to a report by the Daily Mail.

The Serbian international appears to have been on Tottenham’s radar for a while by the looks of things, having been linked with a move to the club as far back as 2018 (Mirror).

The Daily Mail claim that the 25-year-old is keen on a new challenge after spending five successful seasons in the Italian top flight.

Mourinho reportedly wanted to bring him to Old Trafford during his time in charge of Manchester United and he has now asked his current employers to get the deal completed.

However, the report does reveal that Spurs will face competition from Paris Saint-Germain for the midfielder’s signature.

The report also suggests that Lazio will not accept anything less than £50million for Milinkovic-Savic, who is contracted to the Serie A club until 2024.

Spurs Web Opinion

I have always been a huge admirer of Milinkovic-Savic and I believe he has all the attributes to be successful in the Premier League. However, I just cannot see us moving for him this summer as we have other priorities that need to be addressed. Signing a top defensive midfielder like Geoffrey Kondogbia must take precedence over signing a creative midfielder.
