Report: Mourinho has spoken to agent regarding Spurs’ January transfer targets

According to a report in 90 min, new Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has told super-agent Jorge Mendes to keep him informed about Portuguese duo Ruben Dias and Bruno Fernandes as he attempts to bring them to Tottenham in the January transfer window.

Mourinho reportedly wants Mendes’ influence to help finalise deals for the pair as he seeks to strengthen Tottenham’s squad.

Tottenham had a bid for Fernandes rejected in the summer as they reportedly failed to meet Sporting’s valuation of the midfielder (Sporting CP’s official website).

The Portuguese international has been fine form this season, managing five goals and five assists in ten league games so far (transfermarkt.com). However, he signed a new deal with his current club only this week (Sky Sports).

Dias, meanwhile, has been solid at the heart of Benfica’s defence for a couple of seasons now and has won several admirers across Europe.

With Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld both becoming free agents at the end of the current campaign, Spurs might need to invest considerably in central defenders and it looks like Dias has been identified as one of the club’s primary targets by Mourinho.

Having Mourinho as our manager will certainly make us a far more attractive proposition to many players. While some players may not be fans of his conservative approach, most would likely be excited to work with the Portuguese manager given the trophies he has won everywhere he has been.
