Report: Mourinho keen on attacker but bid could depend on Champions League qualification

The rebuild at Tottenham under Jose Mourinho is finally underway after a somewhat successful January transfer window, albeit without a new striker to cover for Kane.

Spurs managed to secure a permanent deal for Giovani Lo Celso, sign Steven Bergwijn from PSV, and secure Gedson Fernandes on an 18-month loan from Benfica.

However, Tottenham fans did wave goodbye to Christian Eriksen after seven seasons at the club, a man who was one of the most consistent playmakers in the league over that time.

Turkish newspaper Gunes now report that Mourinho may have his eye on a new creative spark though, as the Special One is said to be keen on Roma’s Cengiz Under.

This comes as Mourinho will apparently be looking to strengthen the squad again in the summer and likes the look of the 22-year-old.

However, the move could hinge on whether Spurs qualify for the Champions League or not.

Spurs Web Opinion:

A new creator is definitely needed. I worry that if Lo Celso picks up a long-term injury, Spurs lose their only consistent creator in the team.
