Tottenham Hotspur are the leading contenders to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer, according to a report by Foot Mercato.
Lazio sporting director, Igli Tare has admitted that the club will listen to offer for Milinkovic-Savic this summer (Sky Sports Italia), with Spurs said to be one of the teams interested in recruiting the midfielder (Daily Mail).
Foot Mercato claim that Jose Mourinho has identified the Serbian international as the man to bolster his midfield options and is dreaming of bringing him to North London this summer, along with Southampton’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
The report suggests that it is not only the Spurs boss who is a fan of the Lazio star, but members of his coaching staff have also been left convinced that Milinkovic-Savic will a great addition to the side.
It is asserted that Tottenham have the necessary financial clout to complete the deal, especially since they are expected to generate money from player sales.
Milinkovic-Savic is said to be ready to take the next step in his career this summer but it is suggested that he will not make a decision on his future until the end of the season.
Spurs Web Opinion
I can see there being truth to this report as Milinkovic-Savic fits the profile of what Jose looks for in attacking midfielders, with the power, tactical discipline and the work-rate that the Serbian offers.
If Ndombele is not going to be used much until the end of the season, then I would prefer the club to cash in on the Frenchman and reinvest that money on the Lazio star.
