Report: Mourinho ‘livid’ with Spurs star over social media post

According to a report in The Daily Mirror, Jose Mourinho was livid with Gareth Bale after the Welshman took to Instagram on Tuesday to post a picture of himself training, with the caption ‘good session today’.

Bale, who has failed to hit anywhere near the expected heights after returning to Tottenham this season, did not travel to Goodison Park for Spurs’ FA Cup fifth-round clash against Everton on Wednesday.

The winger had been an unused substitute in Tottenham’s last two Premier League outings against Chelsea and West Brom, after putting in a poor display in the 1-0 loss to Brighton two weeks ago.

When asked after the match why Bale was not in the squad, Mourinho claimed that the 31-year-old complained of some muscular issues after training on Tuesday and preferred to stay behind to work with the sports science team.

The Mirror claims that Bale’s post has angered Mourinho since it made him out to be the bad guy.

Spurs Web Opinion

Just because Mourinho said that Bale was with the sports science team, it does not mean that he was not ‘training’ on Wednesday. It was likely that the Welshman was simply being put through the paces by the sports science staff. So, I am quite sceptical about whether there is any truth to this report.
