Report: Mourinho looking to take Spurs-linked Inter Milan star to Roma

FC Inter News have revealed that Jose Mourinho wants to take rumoured Tottenham target Ivan Perisic to AS Roma.

Perisic was linked with a move to Spurs last summer following his impressive showing on loan at Bayern Munich during the 2019-20 season.

The experienced wide man ended up staying at Inter but found himself playing a bit-part role under Antonio Conte during the club’s historic Scuddeto win last season.

Previous reports from Italy claimed that Tottenham took information on the 32-year-old in January but decided not to make a move for him.

Multiple sources have also suggested (Sport Mediaset and Fussball Transfers) that Perisic still remains on Spurs’ radar this summer.

However, FC Inter News have now revealed that the Croat, who has just 12 months left on his contract, could be on his way to Roma.

It is asserted that Mourinho tried in vain to sign Perisic when he was at Manchester United and has now asked the Giallorossi hierarchy to snap up the Inter man.

The report adds that the winger’s demands of a €5m-per-year salary (£4.3m) could be a sticking point for Roma.

Spurs Web Opinion

Any interest that Tottenham might have shown in Perisic last summer or during the January transfer window would have likely been driven by Mourinho.

Based on the players we have been linked with so far since Fabio Paratici’s appointment, it appears the Italian is trying to find emerging stars rather than shopping for established players.
