Report: Mourinho makes loan decision after injury to 26-year-old

According to a report in the Sun, Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has decided against loaning out Ryan Sessegnon in the second half of the season following the injury sustained by Ben Davies.

The Portuguese tactician reportedly wanted to send Sessegnon out on loan in January so that the teenager could get some game time and continue his development.

The 19-year-old, who is one of the most highly-rated young talents in English football, moved to the club in the summer but is yet to start a game for the Lilywhites.

The youngster missed the start of the season with a hamstring injury but has now fully recovered and is training with the first team.

Ben Davies picked up a ligament injury in the 3-2 win against West Ham last weekend and is expected to be out for an extended period (Spurs official).

It is claimed that Sessegnon’s injury has left Mourinho sweating about his options at left back and so he has decided to hang on Sessegnon for the remainder of the season.

Ben Davies’ injury will certainly be giving Mourinho headaches as the Welshman was the perfect left back for the system Mourinho employed against West Ham and Olympiacos as he was asked to drift inside to make a back three when in possession of the ball. That role doesn’t really suit Rose’s game and so I believe Mourinho could try out Vertonghen in that position.
