Report: Mourinho may now push for January signing of summer attacking target

Tottenham Hotspur were heavily linked with Sporting Lisbon attacker Bruno Fernandes back in the summer, with the club president even coming out an confirming a bid (Standard).

However, Tottenham’s efforts were said to be not attractive enough for the Portuguese club due to unlikely add-ons surrounding Spurs winning the Premier League or Champions League.

However, the rumours have since returned with the re-opening of the transfer window this January, with Fernandes himself admitting that Spurs were the only side he agreed to talk to last year (Record).

While it was previously reported that Spurs would drop out of the race to sign Fernandes as the player was out of their reach, according to Mourinho himself, things may have changed.

The Telegraph now say that Mourinho may push to sign the Sporting Lisbon player this month after injuries to the likes of Moussa Sissoko and Harry Kane.

This would certainly be a big statement from Spurs in the race for the top four.
