Report: Mourinho names Real Madrid defender at the top of his transfer list

Tottenham Hotspur may need some defensive reinforcements when it comes to next season, as Jan Vertonghen is still in the final year of his contract.

Toby Alderweireld may have signed a new deal, but we do not yet know what the future holds for his Belgian teammate, or young Japhet Tanganga who also has just six months left back on his deal in North London.

If those two were to leave, Jose Mourinho would be left with just Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez, Juan Foyth, and perhaps a returning Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Eldesmarque have now made a big claim that Jose Mourinho wants to be reunited with one of his former defenders, Real Madrid ace Rafael Varane.

The French star broke through the ranks at Real while Mourinho was manager and is now well-regarded as one of the world’s best.

The report says Spurs are willing to offer £69m for Varane, although the Daily Star claim that this would likely be nowhere near enough.
