Report: Mourinho personally blocks approach from European giant for Spurs player

Barcelona are interested in signing Tanguy Ndombele and Ryan Sessegnon when the transfer market opens in the summer and have already approached Tottenham to enquire about the availability of the duo, according to The Evening Standard.

Ndombele’s future has been subject to much speculation over the last few weeks, with reports indicating that the midfielder’s relationship with Jose Mourinho remains troubled (The Athletic).

The Frenchman has only played 19 minutes of football since the Premier League restart, when he came on as a second-half substitute during the 3-1 defeat to Sheffield United last Thursday.

Meanwhile, Sessegnon has failed to make Tottenham’s 20-man squad for their last two matches, with Mourinho naming Denis Cirkin on the bench ahead of the former Fulham man in the win over Everton.

The Evening Standard claim that despite Barca’s interest in the pair, Spurs are unwilling to enter into negotiations for Ndombele, while Mourinho is said to have personally blocked the Catalan giants’ attempts to sign Sessegnon.

It is revealed that the current La Liga champions can only complete the deals if Tottenham are prepared to accept a players-plus-cash offer.

Spurs Web Opinion

While a lot has been written about Ndombele’s future at Spurs, it is Sessegnon’s situation that is extremely puzzling at the moment. Jose has spoken in very positive terms about the former Fulham man so far, which suggests he rated him highly.

Perhaps, he is sending a message to the youngster that he has to raise his performance in training in order to be involved. If the 20-year-old is not going to get a look in at Spurs, perhaps a loan move next season will help him continue his development.
