Report: Mourinho ready to promote this academy graduate in order to save £30m

According to Football Insider, Jose Mourinho is convinced that Spurs academy graduate, Dennis Cirkin, can save the club around £30 million in the transfer market this summer.

Cirkin has been training with the first team since Mourinho arrived at Tottenham and the 18-year-old has been named on the bench. The Spurs boss has also spoken highly of the talent that the teenager possesses (Football.London).

Unfortunately for Cirkin, he suffered a serious injury in February which set back his progress. However, Football Insider report that the coaching staff have high hopes for the young defender and have earmarked him to make the jump to the first-team next season.

The report reveals that Cirkin will compete with Ben Davies and Ryan Sessegnon for the left-back spot next season and the North Londoners are unlikely to dip into the market for additions in this position.

It is asserted that Mourinho believes the youngster is ‘destined’ to be a star for the club in the future.

Spurs Web Opinion

This report is certainly consistent with other ones that seem to indicate that we are prioritising additions at right-back and a left-sided centre half rather than a left-back. Even if Rose is to leave, we have plenty of options at left-back with Davies, Sessegnon, Tanganga, and Cirkin.
