Report: Mourinho ‘rolling out the red carpet’ to convince youngster to stay at club

Tottenham Hotspur may have two senior centre-backs potentially leaving on free transfers at the end of the season, but some fans may be even more worried about the future of an academy starlet.

Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld are both coming into the last six months of their contracts in North London, although both have been first-choice regulars recently under Jose Mourinho.

However, 20-year-old Japhet Tanganga, who impressed during the pre-season tour of Asia this year, also sees his deal come to an end in the summer.

Tanganga made his full Spurs debut earlier this year when he was named in the starting XI to face Colchester in the League Cup.

Football Insider claim that a source from within Tottenham has now told them that Jose Mourinho is ‘rolling out the red carpet’ for Tanganga in an effort to convince him to stay.

Jose has apparently made it clear to Japhet that he rates him highly and that he will get chances in the first-team.
