Report: Mourinho targets two full-backs as part of his defensive rebuild at Spurs

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho wants to sign a right-back as well as a left-back this summer and has given the club his top list of targets, according to German news outlet BILD.

The report reveals that the Portuguese head coach has identified Norwich City left-back Jamal Lewis as one of the club’s main targets.

The 22-year-old, who has been impressive in his first Premier League season could replace Danny Rose in the summer, who has been backed to North London on a permanent basis (Football.London).

It is revealed that the young defender’s performance in the FA Cup win against Spurs earlier in the month left Mourinho impressed and could make an approach in the summer.

The report also claims that Nice’s Youcef Atal is Tottenham’s primary target at right-back ahead of Norwich City’s Max Aarons.

The report also suggests that the Lilywhites could pursue deals for Marcel Sabitzer, Geoffrey Kondogbia and Eder Militao this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

The full-back positions are certainly a priority in the summer but I am not sure Jamal Lewis will be the right option for us. I don’t think he has a much higher ceiling than Ryan Sessegnon. Signing Lewis will almost certainly affect the former Fulham man’s development as I believe that Seesegnong is more likely to evolve into a left-back than a left-winger.
