Report: Mourinho to offer club legend a new job after impressing during lockdown

Ledley King is set to join Jose Mourinho’s backroom staff at Tottenham Hotspur next season.

The Evening Standard claim that the former central defender who came through the club’s academy and went on to make 317 appearances for Spurs in all competitions (transfermarkt).

Yesterday, Mourinho revealed his assistant coach and technical analyst Ricardo Formosinho would be leaving the club at the end of the season to pursue a career as a head coach.

King’s career at White Hart Lane was cruelly cut short at the age of 31 after struggling for a number of years with knee issues which hampered his ability to train on a regular basis (BBC).

The former England international has been working as a club ambassador since his retirement and has also undertaken his UEFA coaching badges.

King is a well-respected figure among the Spurs dressing room and is said to have impressed Mourinho with his defensive work on the training field since the season was suspended in March.
