Report: Mourinho urges Spurs to make 32-year-old their ‘transfer priority’

According to a report by Spanish news outlet La Razon, Tottenham Hotspur have made Diego Costa their transfer priority during the January transfer window.

Atletico Madrid confirmed on Tuesday that they have terminated Diego Costa’s contract, which was due to run until the end of the season.

Tottenham were linked with a move for the Spanish international during the summer and the speculation linking him with a move to North London has once again intensified this week.

Mundo Deportivo indicated that Spurs were competing with Napoli, Everton and Fenerbahce for the former Chelsea man’s signature.

However, La Razon now claim that Tottenham are in pole position to land Costa now that he is a free agent.

The report claims that Jose Mourinho is desperate to reunite with the experienced striker, who he took to Stamford Bridge back in 2014.

It is suggested that Carlo Ancelotti is also interested in taking the powerful forward to Everton.

Given that Costa is available on a free transfer, the move entails no risk and the club might view the deal as too good an opportunity to miss out on. If Mourinho is desperate to bring the 32-year-old to Spurs, then that suggests that the Spurs boss is not completely convinced by Carlos Vinicius.
