Report: Mourinho wants four new summer signings to build Spurs around Lo Celso

Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho wishes to add four new players to the squad in the summer in order to make the team more competitive next season, according to a report in Football Insider.

Spurs have struggled to pick up wins for the past month or so after losing several key players to injury.

The Lilywhites’ poor form has seen them knocked out of the FA Cup and the Champions League in the last month, while also giving them a mountain to climb in order to finish in the top four.

Football Insider claims that the Portuguese coach has told the club that he needs a new central defender, a right-back, a defensive midfielder and a striker who can serve as Harry Kane’s back up, when the transfer market reopens in the summer.

He is also said to have made it clear that he wants to build the Tottenham midfielder around Giovani Lo Celso.

After a lacklustre start to his Spurs career, the Argentine has really come into his own in the past few months, and it is asserted that Mourinho believes he can be a stand out player in the Premier League and Europe in the coming years.

It is revealed that the club are already taking early steps to rejuvenate and strengthen their squad in the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Our failure to strengthen our squad in the last couple of years has seen several clubs in the Premier League overtake us. This summer really is make or break for the club as we are in danger of falling well off the pace if we don’t invest. We also need to show the likes of Kane and Son that we have ambition.
