Report: Mourinho wants to bring 22-year-old La Liga man to Spurs in January

According to Spanish publication AS, Jose Mourinho wants to bring Real Madrid centre-back, Eder Militao to Tottenham this month.

Reports have indicated that Spurs are in the market for a centre-back, with the likes of Milan Skriniar and Militao’s Real Madrid teammate, Sergio Ramos mentioned as potential targets for the club (Evening Standard).

Militao is a player who was linked with a move to Tottenham back in the summer (Don Balon) but the Brazilian eventually stayed put in the Spanish capital.

However, he has struggled for game time this season, having made only three appearances so far, and AS now report that the defender looks to have no way back into the first-team picture under Zinedine Zidane.

The report claims that the 22-year-old is admired by Mourinho, who wants to bring him to North London in order to bolster his options at centre-back.

It is suggested that Davinson Sanchez is not in Mourinho’s plans and the Spurs boss would like to replace the Colombian with the Real Madrid defender.

Militao was thought of very highly at Porto and it looked to be a real coup when Real Madrid landed him for £43m last year. However, the Brazilian has had an extremely difficult time at the Santiago Bernabeu and it does not seem as if Zidane is convinced by him. I can see Madrid letting Militao go but the signing would entail a certain element of risk for Spurs since he is unproven in a top league.
