Report: Mourinho wants to bring Porto rising star to Tottenham this summer

The latest reports from Portugal indicate that Jose Mourinho is keen to raid his former club Porto for winger Luis Diaz this summer.

Tottenham have been linked with several wide players over the last few months with the likes of Willian (The Sun), Ryan Fraser (Todofichajes), Jeremie Boga (CalcioMercato) and Ivan Perisic (FC Inter News) all said to be on the club’s radar.

According to Record, Diaz has now emerged as the latest target for the Lilywhites this summer.

The 23-year-old joined Porto from Colombian side Atletico Junior last summer and has enjoyed a fantastic first season in Portuguese football.

Operating primarily on the left flank, the skilful wide man has been a constant menace for defences in the Portuguese top-flight all season and has registered 14 goals and seven assists in all competitions (transfermarkt.com).

It is claimed that Mourinho likes the Colombian international’s profile and has identified him as the man to bolster his wide options ahead of next season.

Diaz has had an exceptional season in the Liga NOS and potentially looks set to be Porto’s next breakout star. However, signing him on the back of one good season in the Portuguese top-flight will be a gamble. While the potential rewards of the transfer are high if it works out, a move for Willian or Fraser would be much safer bets, particularly if it is squad players Jose is after.
