Report: Mourinho wants to sign Tottenham attacker for Roma

Il Messaggero have reported that Jose Mourinho is set to raid his former club, Tottenham Hotspur, for Lucas Moura this summer.

Moura was a key figure for The Special One during his 18 months in North London, especially towards the middle of the 2020/21 season where he transitioned into the number 10 role with great effect.

The Brazilian winger currently has three years left on his contract with Spurs and the club would reportedly demand around £21.5m to part ways with him this summer. This is pretty much the same as the £23m fee that Tottenham paid for him from PSG in 2018.

Moura told ESPN Brazil last season that he enjoyed working under Jose Mourinho at Tottenham and the figures certainly reflect that.

The Spurs attacker played a whopping 50 games for his club last season across all competitions, scoring nine goals and assisting another eight (TransferMarkt).

The report claims that Moura’s wages would not be a problem for Roma as they can see value in what the Brazilian would bring to the side.
