Report: Mourinho yet to convince Levy to move for right-back

According to reports from France, Daniel Levy is yet to be convinced that Tottenham should make an offer for Thomas Meunier this summer.

With reports suggesting that Kyle Walker-Peters could be on his way out of the club (Sky Sports), Spurs are expected to be in the market for a right-back.

While there have been several names linked with the North Londoners, the speculation about a move for Meunier has gathered pace over the past few weeks.

The experienced defender is out of contract at PSG this summer and Tottenham are in pole position to sign him, according to reports (Sport via Sport Witness).

Jose Mourinho is said to have even personally called the Belgian international to convince him to make the move to North London (ESPN).

L’Equipe have now provided an update on the 28-year-old’s rumoured move to the Lilywhites. It is claimed that Mourinho is still keen on linking up with him at Tottenham.

However, it is said that the Spurs boss is yet to convince Levy to make a move for Meunier when his contract with PSG runs out.

Spurs Web Opinion

This report doesn’t make much sense at all. It is clear that we have a limited budget this summer and so we are likely to prioritise free transfers. Given that Meunier is available on a free transfer and his wages are not astronomical, one would think it is exactly the kind of signing Levy will want to make.
