Report: Mourinho’s relationship with Levy is becoming increasingly strained

According to a report by Football Insider, Jose Mourinho’s relationship with Daniel Levy is becoming increasingly strained behind the scenes.

There has been speculation surrounding Mourinho’s future at Spurs over recent weeks but two back to back wins in the Premier League over Burnley and Fulham has relieved some pressure off the Tottenham boss.

However, Football Insider report that all is not well between Mourinho and the Tottenham chairman, with tension said to be developing in the pair’s relationship.

Levy was initially said to be enthusiastic about the Portuguese coach’s appointment but his trust in the 58-year-old is now said to be waning.

However, despite the tension between the pair, it is alleged that Mourinho’s job is safe for the moment, with Levy unlikely to sack him when the club are in contention to win silverware and are in with a chance to finish in the top four.

It is suggested that Mourinho might still hang on to his job if Spurs fail to qualify next season’s Champions League partly due to how much it would cost the North Londoners to sack him.

There are plenty of signs that the source that Football Insider have used for this story is in no way close to the internal workings of the club. The report does not even reveal what the root of this ‘tension’ is between Mourinho and Levy. It seems very much like a click-bait headline filled with details being left vague on purpose.
