Report: Mourinho’s Roma have made move for English Spurs-linked star

Corriere Dello Sport have revealed that AS Roma have made a move for Norwich City full-back Max Aarons, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham.

Aarons has been a consistent performer for Norwich since breaking into the Canaries starting lineup as a teenager back in 2018.

Spurs were heavily linked with a move for the 21-year-old (The Times and Sky Sports) during the summer transfer window but the right-back ended up staying put at Carrow Road.

Calciomercato.it claimed last week that Jose Mourinho has asked Roma to snap up the England Under-21 international in January but it was suggested that Spurs were the front-runners for the right-back.

Corriere have now revealed that Roma have pushed ahead with a move for Aarons after facing roadblocks in their pursuit of Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot.

The report reveals that the Giallorossi wish to sign the Norwich star on a loan deal with an option to buy but Dean Smith’s side are said to be demanding €22m (£18.7m) for the defender.

It is alleged that Roma are expected to face competition from Spurs and Everton for Aaron’s signature.

Spurs Web Opinion

I have been impressed with Emerson Royal this season and the Brazilian is only likely to get better once he gets adjusted to the Premier League.

However, the former Real Betis man strikes me as a more natural full-back in a back four rather than a wing-back.

Aarons would be an upgrade on Doherty and give Emerson tough competition for the right-wing-back slot.
