Report: Multiple PL clubs were put off by Tottenham’s valuation of player in January

Football Insider have claimed that several Premier League clubs enquired about Joe Rodon’s availability during the January transfer window but were not willing to meet Tottenham’s asking price.

Rodon has been a revelation in the Championship since his loan move to Leeds United last summer and it is revealed that the centre-back is already attracting interest from the top flight.

Football Insider say that more than one Premier League side tried to sign the centre-back during the mid-season transfer window but they balked at the fee that the Lilywhites demanded for the player.

Spurs summer departure certain for Joe Rodon

The report alleges that Spurs fully intend to cash in on Rodon when the transfer window reopens in the summer, with Ange Postecoglou’s men alleged to value the player between £10m and £15m.

The report explains that while Leeds are ‘very eager’ to sign the 26-year-old permanently, they would have a hard time convincing him to make the move to Elland Road should they fail to win promotion.

However, the outlet adds that should Daniel Farke’s men bounce straight back up to the Premier League, meeting Tottenham’s valuation for Rodon would not be a problem for them.

Spurs Web Opinion

It has been widely reported that there is not a break clause in Rodon’s season-long loan at Leeds. Tottenham thus would not have been at liberty to discuss his sale with potential suitors in January.

The centre-back himself would likely want to wait and see whether Leeds win promotion before making a final decision on his next destination.
