Report: Mystery English club reportedly made enquiry for rumoured Spurs target

Tottenham Hotspur were linked with several forwards in the January transfer window but in the end, no move came to fruition.

The likes of Jarrod Bowen, Jack Clarke, and Malcom were all mooted with a switch to North London with assumptions made that Spurs were looking for a player with pace who could operate in attack or on the wing.

According to a report in Spanish publication AS, a mystery English club enquired about the availability of Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams during the window.

The report, however, claims that Bilbao were not interested in letting Williams go and asked for his release clause of £77 million to be met.

The 24-year-old is having a fantastic season at the Basque club having already scored 9 times and provided three assists in 24 appearances.

While the report did not confirm the identity of the English club, Williams fits the target profile Spurs have been linked with recently, and Spurs had also been previously shown interest in the Spaniard a couple of seasons ago (Independent).

While that sort of transfer value will certainly rule out Tottenham’s chances of landing the forward, it is likely that Spurs will be quoted a more realistic price if they went back for him in the summer.
