Report names one Spurs player Conte is apparently not the biggest fan of

Corriere dello Sport have reported that Antonio Conte is not the biggest fan of Tottenham right-back Emerson Royal, amidst links with Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries (05/12/22 via SportWitness).

TuttoMercatoWeb recently revealed that Inter Milan are continuing to explore a potential deal for Emerson Royal ahead of the January transfer window.

Despite his struggles to adapt to the demands of the right wing-back role, Emerson continued to be Antonio Conte’s first choice in the position during the first part of the 2022-23 campaign.

90 min reported almost a month ago that Spurs would be open to cashing in on the Brazilian in January, with the North London club allegedly intent on ‘overhauling’ their options at right wing-back.

Inter’s interest in Emerson first came to light when Caliomercato.it revealed a couple of weeks ago that the Nerazzurri could reignite their interest in the 23-year-old, having previously tried to sign him in the summer of 2020 from Barcelona but losing out to Spurs.

However, the report explained that Antonio Conte has ‘vetoed’ the departure of the right-back until a replacement arrives through the door in January.

TuttoMercatoWeb backed up Inter’s interest in Emerson, explaining that Simone Inzaghi’s men have identified the Spurs star as the man to replace Denzel Dumfries if the Dutchman leaves in January.

The publication stated that Inter are ‘trying to figure out’ if a move for Emerson would be possible and what Spurs’ valuation of the player is.

Spurs Web Opinion

I think most Spurs fans would bite Inter’s hand off if they offered even £10m-£15m for Emerson. The 23-year-old does appear the most likely player to leave if Tottenham do sign a right wing-back in January as he will probably attract more interest from across Europe than Matt Doherty.
