Report names price tag Brighton are putting on Trossard amid Spurs links

According to the talkSPORT transfer notebook, Brighton and Hove Albion are keen to hold out for a bid of £25 million before they let reported Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Leandro Trossard leave the club.

Trossard was having a fantastic season for Brighton, contributing seven goals and three assists for the Seagulls (Transfermarkt). His campaign has been disrupted of late though, due to transfer speculation linking him away from the club.

Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi had isolated the winger last week, citing Trossard’s apparent lack of respect as a reason for putting the Belgian out in the cold (BeanymanSports2).

Trossard’s representatives responded to the situation and called for Brighton to sell the midfielder to solve the issue (Telegraph). The 28-year-old’s current contract expires at the end of next season (Transfermarkt) and it is thought the club may be looking to cash in while they still can.

Football Insider recently claimed Tottenham Hotspur were already in discussions to secure Trossard’s signature this month, but Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws (14/01/23 as relayed by Sport Witness) suggested Spurs had not yet made their approach.

The latest from talkSPORT claims both Tottenham and Arsenal are going to go head-to-head to sign the player and it is believed that “Brighton are now preparing themselves for a formal offer for the Belgium World Cup star.”

The report adds that Brighton have set their valuation for the attacker, and “will not be bullied into selling Trossard on the cheap and will hold out for a fee of at least £25m.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I’m not sure I would pay that much for Trossard, but the selling club is always going to ask for more than what they may actually expect to get. If we could negotiate that down and pay less than £20m I think that would be a much fairer price.
