Report names six signings Conte wants to turn Tottenham into title challengers

Spanish publication Fichajes have claimed that Antonio Conte wants to overhaul the Tottenham squad this summer and build a team that can challenge for titles next season.

Conte implied this week that Spurs can replicate the success Jurgen Klopp has had at Liverpool but only with time and sufficient backing (Football.London).

However, if Fichajes are to be believed, the Spurs head coach has drawn up plans to put together a competitive starting eleven that can challenge the best as early as next season.

Conte has allegedly asked the Tottenham hierarchy to sign Atletico Madrid centre-back Jose Maria Gimenez, Inter Milan duo Milan Skriniar and Denzel Dumfries, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, Southampton midfielder James Ward Prowse and Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella this summer.

In addition, it is explained there is likely to be a mass exodus from the Spurs squad this summer.

Fichajes state that if Tottenham fail to qualify for the Champions League, Conte’s intention is to take advantage of that and put the entire focus on competing in the Premier League.

Spurs Web Opinion

This article from Fichajes seems more like an educated guess based on Conte’s recent statements rather than some inside information. Some of the players mentioned have not been heavily linked with a move to Spurs.

There is no reason why Fichajes would know more about Conte’s targets than sources like Fabrizio Romano, who has connections with agents and the Spurs boss’ entourage, or the likes of Alasdair Gold, who has reliable sources inside the club.
