Report names the four stars on Spurs ‘player committee’ who Levy met with this week

The Guardian have revealed that Daniel Levy spoke to Hugo Lloris, Harry Kane, Eric Dier and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg before making the decision to part ways with Cristian Stellini.

The writing seemed to be on the wall for Stellini and the rest of the coaching staff after Tottenham’s diabolical showing at St James’ Park on Sunday, with the Italian accepting responsibility for the result, having set the team up in a 4-3-3 formation (Evening Standard).

Unsurprisingly, the club confirmed on Monday that the 48-year-old and the rest of the coaching staff had departed, with Ryan Mason being temporarily handed the reins until the end of the season, just as he was after Jose Mourinho was let go two years ago.

It was Levy himself who communicated the decision, with the Spurs chairman also revealing that he had met with the ‘player committee’ to discuss the current state of affairs.

The Guardian have now revealed that the player committee at Tottenham consists of Lloris, Kane, Dier and Hojbjerg, who all gave their input on what needed to be done.

The publication added that the extent of the team’s capitulation on Sunday raised fears that Stellini would be unable to motivate the players going forward.

The player committee in every team usually consists of experienced first-team regulars who also have leadership skills.

So, it certainly is not surprising that these four names are the ones that Levy consulted with.

The players quite clearly needed a fresh voice and approach after Conte’s departure and to put Stellini in charge, never made any sense at all.
