Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a new sporting director continues, with a fresh report naming three candidates as the club looks to fill the role left vacant in recent months.

We recently reported that Tottenham Hotspur are still actively searching for a new sporting director following the departure of Fabio Paratici.

The report we relayed stated that Spurs had even turned to Excel as their search for a sporting director intensifies.

It was claimed that Tottenham are looking for a director who will fit into their current system and function within a team, given their preference for a two-sporting-director model.

A fresh report from BBC Sport has now named three of Spurs’ preferred sporting director targets. According to the publication, Tottenham are said to be interested in appointing Dougie Freedman as their new sporting director.

Freedman has Premier League experience, having spent eight years with Crystal Palace, but, he is now with Saudi Arabian side Al-Diriyah after leaving the Eagles in 2025.

The former Palace man has a proven track record in recruitment, having been involved in the signings of players who have gone on to become top stars – including Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze, Marc Guehi, Adam Wharton and Dean Henderson.

Spurs aim to appoint sporting director before next managerial decision

Tottenham are understood to be looking to wrap up their search for a new sporting director soon.

That is because the Lilywhites hope to have a new sporting director in place in time to influence the decision over who becomes the club’s next permanent manager.

However, Freedman is not the only name on Tottenham’s radar. Chelsea sporting director Paul Winstanley and Bournemouth president of football operations Tiago Pinto are also believed to be monitored by Spurs.
