Report names three players Spurs offered to Sporting Lisbon for Pedro Porro

According to a report in The Times, Tottenham Hotspur offered Sporting Lisbon a choice of three players as part of a player-plus-cash deal for Pedro Porro.

The saga regarding the future of Porro has been ongoing for quite some time now, with little progress being made in the negotiations between Spurs and Sporting Lisbon. It is thought the Portuguese side will only let Porro leave this month if his release clause of £40 million is met (Guardian).

There have been varying reports as to what kind of offers Spurs have made for the 23-year-old, with Record claiming the North London club bid £29.7 million with potential add-ons amounting to £9.6 million as an initial offer.

However, Fabrizio Romano suggested the Lilywhites had made an opening offer of ‘one player plus guaranteed money’. It is believed that offer was snubbed by Sporting.

In the print edition of A Bola (19/01/23 as relayed by Sport Witness), it was claimed Tottenham Hotspur are now ready to give up in their pursuit of the Spanish wing-back.

New details have emerged regarding that supposed cash-plus-player offer now though, with three Spurs players reportedly being put on the table for Sporting to choose from: Emerson Royal, Japhet Tanganga, and Bryan Gil.

The three players are reportedly on the list of options for Sporting due to the fact they “have all struggled for regular minutes in recent weeks.”

Alongside this, it is thought that “Spurs have also discussed removing the 50 per cent sell-on clause the club still hold for Marcus Edwards,” in order to reduce the fee they need to pay for Porro.

If only we could offload Emerson Royal and sign Pedro Porro in one move, that would be great. I don’t blame Sporting for not taking us up on that offer though, as they’ve made it abundantly clear what they want in order to let Porro go.
