Report names Tottenham as one of five clubs interested in PL midfielder

CalcioMercato have revealed that N’Golo Kante’s contract talks with Chelsea are proving to be complicated amidst Tottenham’s interest in the midfielder.

Foot Mercato were the first to report earlier this month that Spurs were eyeing a move for Kante, with the report stating that Chelsea are not likely to offer the Frenchman a new deal.

It was claimed that the 31-year-old prefers to remain in London and his representatives have offered him to both Spurs and Arsenal.

CalcioMercato now explain that although Kante wants to remain at Chelsea, negotiations over a new deal have now stalled.

The midfielder is thought to be demanding a three-year contract with an option of another one-year extension while the Blues are only prepared to offer him a two-year deal.

The report states that the 31-year-old could reach an agreement in January with another club ahead of a move next summer.

CalcioMercato reveal that Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Arsenal and Spurs are all interested in Kante, with Antonio Conte said to be an ‘admirer’ of the former Leicester star.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be surprised if Spurs offered Kante a three or four-year contract, given his age and injury problems over recent years. However, if Tottenham do want to get a deal done, one would hope that the Frenchman’s relationship with Conte will give the club an advantage over other potential suitors.
