Report names two Spurs stars who have impressed Nuno Espirito Santo

Football.London have claimed that Nuno Espirito Santo has been impressed by what he has seen from Steven Bergwijn and Dele Alli in pre-season training so far.

Both Bergwijn and Alli were bit-part players under Jose Mourinho last season, with the former MK Dons man even coming close to an exit during the January transfer window.

Some reports have claimed Tottenham have decided to cash in on the 25-year-old this summer, with Mauricio Pochettino still thought to be keen on reuniting with the midfielder at Paris Saint-Germain.

Bergwijn, meanwhile, has struggled to build on the impressive start to his Spurs career after arriving from PSV Eindhoven in January of last year.

Ajax are thought to be interested in signing the Netherlands international, who is said to be open to a return to the Eredivisie (De Telegraaf).

However, if Football.London’s latest update is to be believed, it looks as though both players could be handed a lifeline under Nuno.

The report reveals that the Portuguese coach has been impressed by Bergwijn and Deke who both returned from the summer break in great condition.

Spurs Web Opinion

Unfortunately, I do not see Nuno getting the best out of Dele since the 25-year-old needs to be played as a ten behind Kane, something the 47-year-old is unlikely to do. However, I am still optimistic regarding Bergwijn as I believe there is a lot more to come from the Dutchman after a difficult start to life in North London where he was expected to play a defence-focused role under Jose Mourinho.
