Report: Napoli add Tottenham defender to shortlist for potential January signing

Napoli have shortlisted Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez as a potential replacement for the now-departed Kostas Manolas, according to Corriere dello Sport.

I Partenopei have now been placed in a position to find a new centre-back after Manolas completed a transfer back to Olympiacos in his native homeland Greece on Thursday.

Corriere dello Sport claim Napoli have since created a shortlist with a handful of targets for the January transfer window, which allegedly includes Tottenham man Sanchez.

The 25-year-old has endured a mixed stint at Spurs since completing a £42 million move in 2017, but has emerged as a viable option for Antonio Conte’s three-man defence in recent games.

The report also claims Napoli’s list includes Torino defender Gleison Bremer, as well as Augsburg’s Felix Uduokhai and recalling Sebastiano Luperto from his loan spell at Empoli.

A move for Sanchez in January doesn’t seem that likely given how he has slotted into Conte’s defence, unless he is made as a makeweight for another signing in defence. For now, it is probably best to keep him and re-evaluate his situation at the club in the summer.
