Report: Napoli are looking to sign Tottenham creator this summer

Giovani Lo Celso looks destined for the exit doors at Tottenham Hotspur this summer, with a number of clubs linked with the Argentinian. Today, it’s the turn of Napoli, who hope Spurs will be looking to cash in on the player at the end of the season.

After spending the last two seasons on loan in Spain with Villarreal, Lo Celso had a surprise chance to salvage his Tottenham career this season under Ange Postecoglou.

However, due to injuries and form, Lo Celso has been limited to just 19 appearances all season, scoring two goals and registering two assists in something of a purple patch between November and December of last year (Transfermarkt).

It is thought Lo Celso is frustrated with the lack of opportunities at Spurs now and is looking to ‘force an exit’ in the summer, with Real Betis keen on signing him (Estadio Deportivo).

According to Fichajes, Atletico Madrid are also in pursuit of the playmaker. Football Insider claim there will be a wide range of top clubs looking at Lo Celso, in fact.

Napoli are looking at Tottenham’s Lo Celso

Now, the latest update comes from Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), with a suggestion that Napoli are hoping to get a cheap deal for Lo Celso this summer.

The report describes Lo Celso as an “old obsession” for the Serie A champions, and that he could be part of a revolution for the club in the next transfer market.

It is thought Napoli tried to sign Lo Celso last summer and will try again imminently. Given the player himself is unhappy, there is hope that the situation could “cause the collapse of the price tag” on Tottenham’s side.

Spurs Web Opinion

It’s definitely time for Lo Celso to move on, and I think anything around £20-25m would be more than fair for all parties. That may seem high, given how he has performed in England, but we are still talking about a player with a great degree of international experience and who has proven himself in Spain countless times.
