Report: Napoli could pursue Liverpool man as alternative to Spurs defender

Tottenham full back Kieran Trippier has had a poor season for the Lilywhites and if reports are to be believed his time at North London is close to coming to an end (Evening Standard).

After impressing in the World Cup with England last summer, the 28-year-old has failed to hit the same heights with Spurs this season being at fault for several poor goals that the team have conceded.

Napoli are said to pursuing the former Burnley player with manager Carlo Ancelotti even admitting that the club are evaluating a move for him (Sky Sports).

Now a report in Goal claims that Napoli are looking at Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne as an alternative to the Spurs man.

The report further suggests that the Reds would be willing to let Clyne go for an offer of £15 million since he only has one year to run on his contract and he will be the cheaper option for Napoli in comparison to Trippier.

The report also claims that both Bournemouth and West Ham are both interested in signing Clyne.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham have sorely missed the dynamism Kyle Walker used to provide from right back since he departed for Manchester City.

We believe Tottenham need to invest a sizable portion of their summer transfer kitty into bringing in a top full back like Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has the energy to get up and down the pitch for the entire game.
