Report: Napoli have ‘probed’ potential signing of rumoured Spurs striker target

According to Alfredo Pedulla, Napoli have explored the possibility of signing Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca, who is also thought to be on Tottenham’s radar.

After impressing on loan at Ascoli and Genoa during the last two seasons, Scamacca has shone on his return to the Mapei Stadium, having found the back of the net 13 times in Serie A so far this campaign (Transfermarkt).

The Daily Express previously revealed that the Sassuolo star is ‘appreciated’ by Spurs managing director of football Fabio Paratici and the striker is ‘one to keep an eye on’ for Tottenham during the summer transfer window.

When asked about the speculation over his future earlier this month, the 23-year-old insisted that moving abroad ‘doesn’t scare’ him (Corriere dello Sport).

Pedulla has now claimed that Napoli could make a move for Scamacca this summer, with the Serie A club having identified the Saussolo star as a potential replacement for Victor Osimhen.

Interestingly, Spurs, along with Newcastle and Manchester United, are named as three contenders for the Nigerian international’s signature.

Scamacca would be an excellent addition as a backup to Kane but it remains to be seen if the striker would be open to joining Spurs, knowing that he would have to play second fiddle to the England captain. With regards to Osimhen, it is clear that we would not have any chance of attracting the Napoli star unless Kane departs this summer.
