Report: Napoli want to sign Tottenham player who started against Sheffield United

According to a report in Il Mattino (as relayed by Area Napoli), Napoli have not given up on their pursuit of Tottenham centre-back Radu Dragusin.

Dragusin has not had the easiest of starts to his spell at Tottenham since arriving from Genoa in January, with the centre-back having to bide his time on the bench as Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven continued to be Ange Postecoglou’s first-choice pairing.

However, the Romanian did end the campaign on a positive note, starting the last two league matches of the season against Manchester City and Sheffield United and delivering solid displays.

The Sun were the first to report last week that Napoli could make a shock move to sign the defender from Spurs, just a few months on from his arrival in North London.

However, Football Insider subsequently rubbished the claim, insisting that Tottenham have no intention of letting the 22-year-old leave this summer and expect him to get plenty of chances next season.

Napoli still want Radu Dragusin from Spurs

If Il Mattino’s latest update is to be believed, Napoli are undeterred by Tottenham’s stance and are continuing to circle around Dragusin.

The report says that the 2022-23 Serie A champions want to reinforce their backline and believe that they can get the former Genoa man, given his struggles for game time at N17.

However, the update makes it clear that Napoli are not putting all their eggs in the Dragusin basket and have also identified the likes of David Hancko and Nehuen Perez as alternatives.

Spurs Web Opinion

This transfer rumour is a complete non-starter as there is no chance that Tottenham would consider cashing in on Dragusin and the 22-year-old is extremely unlikely to push for a move, particularly given that he finished the season strongly.
