Report: Ndombele privately reveals reason behind poor first season to Spurs

There has been considerable speculation over Tanguy Ndombele’s future during the past few weeks after the Frenchman failed to live up to expectations following his record-breaking transfer from Lyon last summer.

There have been major question marks over the 23-year-old’s fitness (BBC Sport) as well as his attitude (The Sun) during the current campaign.

While some reports have claimed that Tottenham have no intention of selling the midfielder in the summer (Mirror), others have suggested that he could be on his way out of the club (Football.London).

The Times have now revealed that the 23-year-old has privately told Tottenham that his injury issues are due to muscular pains he has been experiencing throughout the season.

The report adds that the French international is increasingly likely to leave Tottenham when the transfer market reopens as the club wish to recoup some of the money they spent on him last summer.

I cannot see Daniel Levy selling Ndombele unless he is able to recoup all of the money we paid for him last summer. The only reason he might be willing to accept a lower offer is if the club knows something about the midfielder’s injury issues that we do not. Let’s hope it is not anything serious and he is able to overcome these issues before the start of next season.
