Report: Spurs continue to hold talks for ‘top priority’ transfer target

Tottenham Hotspur are continuing to hold talks with Lyon to negotiate a transfer for Tanguy Ndombele.

The Evening Standard report that Spurs have made the French international midfielder their top transfer target of the summer window.

Ndombele is regarded as one of the brightest box to box midfield talents in Europe and could carry a transfer fee in the region of £70million (Mail) which would substantially beat the current club record which Spurs paid Ajax for Davinson Sanchez in 2017.

The 22-year-old has already revealed that he would be interested in a move to North London during a recent interview with French news outlet Telefoot.

The player is currently on holiday following his exploits with France and is expected to make a decision on his future next month (Standard).

Spurs are still to replace the void left by Mousa Dembele when the Belgian left the club to move to China and if they can manage to agree to a deal with Lyon for Ndombele it would certainly be a huge step in the right direction.

While Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko have both performed admirably in the middle of the park, Ndombele’s signing would certainly send a message to Premier League rivals that the club are prepared to compete for silverware.
