Report: Nervous wait for Spurs midfielder’s test results after possible ‘micro-tear’

The print edition of L’Equipe (12/04/22 – as relayed by Sport Witness) has revealed that Tanguy Ndombele is awaiting the results to confirm the full extent of the injury he picked up in Lyon’s 1-1 draw against Strasbourg.

As expected, Ndombele has enjoyed a run of starts since returning to Lyon on loan from Spurs in January. While the midfielder has shown glimpses of his quality, he has continued to be plagued by inconsistency.

After putting in an accomplished performance in Lyon’s 1-1 draw against West Ham at the London Stadium last week, the Frenchman struggled against Strasbourg on Sunday, with GFFN handing him a rating of 3/10 for his display.

Perhaps more worryingly for both Spurs and Ndombele is that he came off injured in the 84th minute of the game.

L’Equipe reveal the 25-year-old ‘felt a spike’ behind his left thigh and that it could be a result of a ‘micro-tear’.

It is explained that the on-loan Tottenham man undertook tests on Monday to ascertain the nature and the severity of the injury, and is now awaiting the results.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham’s hopes of finding a buyer for Ndombele in the summer rest on the midfielder having a strong end to the season with Lyon.

So, a medium-term injury could ruin the North London club’s plans. Paratici, Levy and co will be desperately hoping that the Frenchman’s injury is just minor.
