Report: New club enter race for Wilfried Zaha after Spurs links in the summer

Roma Giallorossa have revealed that Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, who was linked with a move to Tottenham in the summer, could be set to join AS Roma at the end of the season.

The Athletic revealed after the summer transfer window slammed shut that Tottenham explored a late move for Zaha in the final hours. However, it was explained that the Lilywhites were unable to push through a deal for the 29-year-old before the deadline.

Zaha has made a bright start to the season, with five-goal contributions in seven Premier League matches (Transfermarkt), and the winger’s current deal at Selhurst Park runs out next summer.

Roma Giallorossa have now suggested that Roma are keeping a close on the Palace star, with Mourinho allegedly wanting to bring him to the Stadio Olimpico.

The report adds that the Giallorossi have doubts over the future of Stephan El Shaarawy, who will be a free agent next summer, and could sign Zaha to replace the Italian.

Finally, it is explained that Roma were also eyeing a move for the Ivory Coast international this summer but chose to sign Andrea Belotti instead when the former Torino star became available.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Zaha does not sign a new contract with Palace, there will be no shortage of suitors for the winger next summer. However, I am not sure that he will be the right fit for Spurs as he is at his best on the left – a position that both Son and Richarlison can also play.
