Report: New coach joins Tottenham from Championship club

Teeside Live have reported that Middlesbrough’s strength and conditioning coach John Thrower coach has now joined Tottenham Hotspur, ending his nine-year-long association with Boro.

Antonio Conte has made it clear that improving Tottenham’s squad fitness is a priority for him so that the players can get adjusted to the demands of his style of play.

That may explain why the Italian has brought fitness coaches Costantino Coratti, Gian Piero Ventrone and Stefano Bruno, as well as nutritionist Tiberio Ancora, along with him to Spurs.

The North London club have now appointed another additional coach to work on fitness and conditioning in Thrower.

The 30-year-old took to Instagram after Boro’s win over Blackpool to announce his exit from the North Yorkshire club.

Thrower wrote: “I have met some incredible people over the years and want to wish them all and the club only the very best for the future.”

Several Boro players and staff past and present, including Jonathan Woodgate, Ben Gibson, Adam Forshaw, Marc Bola, Ashley Fletcher and Lewis Wing, thanked Thrower and wished him the best in his new adventure at Spurs.

One would expect that Thrower would be working alongside Conte’s coaching staff with the Tottenham first-team, as he likely would not have left Boro for a role with the Spurs academy.
