Report: New contract for Spurs star is expected to be agreed within ‘weeks’

90 min have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur could now quickly tie down Son Heung-min to a new contract.

Son’s current contract runs until the summer of 2025 and Alasdair Gold said on his YouTube channel earlier this month that he would be ‘stunned’ if Spurs do not begin contract talks with their new captain soon.

Tottenham will sort new Son contract soon

This has now also been backed by 90 min, who explained that the club wanted to see how Ange Postecoglou and the forward got on before beginning discussions on a new deal.

Now that the pair have struck up a great relationship, the Lilywhites are said to be looking to tie down the 31-year-old quickly, with talks expected to progress swiftly. The report adds that the Spurs hierarchy are ‘determined’ to agree a new contract with their star man.

90 min assert that while an agreement is expected to be reached by Christmas, it is possible that the negotiations could be finalised within a matter of weeks.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham do not tend to offer long-term contracts for players over 30 but there is no doubt that the club will make an exception for Son. I expect Spurs to offer the forward a four-year deal with a significant pay rise, now that he is the captain and the face of the club.
