Report: New PL club have entered race for Tottenham’s Japhet Tanganga

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Brentford have now entered the race for Tottenham centre-back Japhet Tanganga.

Tanganga missed almost the entire second half of the 2021/22 campaign due to a knee injury (Transfermarkt) but Antonio Conte and his coaching staff are now getting another close look at the defender during pre-season.

However, reports have indicated that Tottenham are willing to loan the 23-year-old out this summer, with the club said to be eyeing more defensive reinforcements (talkSPORT).

Tanganga has been linked with a move to AC Milan recently, with Sky Italia reporting last week that the player’s entourage held a meeting with the Serie A club’s hierarchy.

Gianluigi Longari claimed a couple of days ago that the Spurs academy graduate is also attracting interest from Napoli, Southampton and Everton.

If Gazzetta’s latest update is to be believed, Brentford also have their eyes on Tanganga.

However, the publication explains that Milan are keen to get a deal for the centre-back over the line despite facing competition from Premier League sides.

It is asserted that Rossoneri believe that Tanganga could be a similar success story at the San Siro to former Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori.

Spurs Web Opinion

I hope that Spurs would loan out Tanganga rather than selling him permanently. I believe the 23-year-old possesses the attributes to shine at left centre-back as well as right centre-back in Conte’s back three.

I am quite surprised that Conte seems to be willing to let Tanganga go over Davinson Sanchez, whose limitations of the ball make him a liability in the Italian’s system.
