Report: New Serie A club enter race for Tottenham’s Giovani Lo Celso

According to the print edition of La Nazione on 27/6/22 (as relayed by Firenzeviola), Fiorentina have expressed an interest in signing Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.

Villarreal’s president Fernando Roig admitted two weeks ago that although the Spanish club are keen to sign Lo Celso permanently on the back of his impressive loan spell, they cannot afford a deal for the Argentine unless they sell players first (El Periodico Mediterraneo).

Some reports have suggested that Tottenham could use the midfielder as a makeweight in a deal to sign Pau Torres from the Yellow Submarine (Daily Mail).

Atletico Madrid have also been credited with an interest in the Spurs man, with The Daily Express claiming last week that Diego Simeone is a fan of his compatriot.

La Nazione have now revealed that Fiorentina have also entered the race for Lo Celso’s signature.

The report states the Viola made an approach for the 26-year-old during the January transfer window and have now rekindled their interest in the player.

It is explained that negotiations to bring Lo Celso to Artemio Franchi Stadium are currently in the ‘initial phase’.

Spurs Web Opinion

I never thought there would be any shortage of interest in Lo Celso this summer, given how well the midfielder performed at Villarreal during the second half of the season.

However, the problem Spurs have is that not a lot of Italian and Spanish clubs have money to throw around this summer. That might be why Paratici is forced to contemplate part-exchange deals for the Argentine.
