Report: New Tottenham signing doubt for season start through injury

Football London have reported that new Tottenham signing, Cristian Romero is a doubt for the start of the Premier League season.

Spurs welcome Man City to North London on the opening weekend of the new campaign, but they could be without their latest addition in defence.

The 23-year-old was on duty with Argentina in the Copa America this summer and even started the final. Although the Argentines won the tournament, Romero came off in the 79th minute after sustaining a knee injury against Brazil.

Therefore, Romero’s Tottenham debut is currently up in the air, although the injury is said to be ‘minor’ and involves the medial collateral ligament in his knee.

Despite the injury and recent transfer, thanks to his all-in-one single-dose vaccination jab in Italy, Romero has been able to interact and mix with his new Tottenham teammates.

Spurs Web Opinion:

It could be a few weeks before Romero is able to get up to speed in North London anyway. I’m not sure whether Nuno would have dropped him in at the deep end against Man City even if he was injury-free, to be honest.
