Report: Newcastle also interested in centre-back Conte allegedly wants at Spurs

The Daily Mail have revealed that Newcastle United hold an interest in Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar, who is also thought to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Following Antonio Conte’s appointment at Spurs, the Italian has been backed to raid his former club for several of their players, with Stefan De VrijMarcelo Brozovic and Nicolo Barella being mooted as potential January targets for Spurs.

Another Inter star who was previously on Tottenham’s radar was Skriniar, with the 26-year-old being heavily linked with a move to the Lilywhites in the summer of 2020 as well as this summer.

CalcioMercato reported last month that the Slovakian international continues to be on Tottenham’s radar ahead of the January transfer window.

The Nerazzurri have allegedly offered Skriniar a new deal worth around €4m (£3.4m) a year to keep him away from the clutches of interested clubs.

If Spurs are to make a move for the Inter star next month, it looks like they are set to face competition from Newcastle, with The Daily Mail now suggesting that the former Sampdoria man is also interesting Eddie Howe’s side.

Spurs Web Opinion

I have my doubts if Skriniar is really a target for Spurs as the 26-year-old was initially overlooked by Conte at Inter before he eventually forced himself into the starting lineup. That suggests that the Spurs boss was not 100 per cent convinced by the Slovak.
